Will Lindsey Lohan Do Better In Fashion
From a promising 'teen queen' status, Lindsay Lohan now carries the 'bisexual Hollywood bad girl' label. Once a Disney princess, the good girl-turned bad has experienced a bad publicity smear, a much-publicized break-up and dire results in the box office. And during the Paris Fashion Week, Lohan was again under the hot seat as she ventured in another chapter in her much-colorful Hollywood career. This time, she comes as a fashion adviser.
Teaming up with Spanish designer Estrella Archs, Lohan strolled the catwalk for Emanuel Ungaro Label in which she was introduced as the company's artistic director. Lohan was quoted saying that working with Ungaro is a dream come true and she addressed the show as the hardest thing she has ever done. She also said that she loves fashion and the Paris Fashion Week has been the best week of her life.
Mounir Moufarrige, the Ungaro CEO, also seems happy with the partnership. Moufarrige has been quoted saying that the partnership with Lohan is an explosive combination. However, words like 'risky business', 'it's the clothes that talk', and 'people are interested, and our business is to sell' also came out from Moufarrige. It was like hints were coming out that Lohan's service is more on the publicity aspect.
Adding to the controversy are several negative write-ups that connotes dismay and several harsh-words for Lohan. Susannah Frankel of the The Independent has this to say: she called the designs ordinary and unclear in terms of Parisian sophistication and elegance - to say the least. The designs are composed of loud colors, sequins and ultra-short dresses. She also said that designs like that are obviously targeting younger generations.
Suzy Menkes of The New York Times has kinder words for this saying that there are positive aspects in Lohan's designs, however, certain ubiquity on the dresses presented did not pass Menkes' tastes.
In a world of beauty, money and power, fashion is a necessity. The word fashion means styles and customs that are present and popular at a specific period. In today's world, fashion is commonly referred to as the beautifully and artistically designed clothes worn with elegance and class. Some of the noted fashion icons in their generations are Marie Antoinette, Audrey Hepburn, Princess Diana, Kate Moss and Giselle Bundchen.
Also, with today's generation, fashion becomes more experimental - even daring. One evident unique fashion statement is girls wearing mens necktie. Neckties are known men garments but because of fashion, girls can now be seen wearing a quality necktie around their necks, just like the style in Lohan's movie, Mean Girls.
